Working working working ...
Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 08:49PM The stars are aligned, and my studio is crowded but effective. I have made three men in the last few weeks. I am not showing the full quilts till they are exhibited but thought I would let you glimpse the men who are starring in them! You have seen Hassan the Glassblower, but I am putting him in again for comparison.
I just need two more clear months - but the quilts have to be finished on the 23rd January and that is why you are not hearing from me at the moment.

And an 'in-progress' image of the quilt top (which is now finished and pinned)
And last - Mohamed, who makes carved and gilded furniture in the streets behind Al Atabah
And hang in until the end of January and I will put all of them up! Quilted and finished.
At the moment only Hassan is at that point.

wow ... I am eagerly waiting to see those finished items ... or at least the photos ... I guess they will probably be off on their way to wherever/whatever they are for before the next CQ meeting? - if not, and you still have them - I hope you can bring them to "show and tell" - LOL

Jenny, these are great portraits. they capture the moment with these men. i was hoping to see the man in the window, the third of the quilts. that was a memorable photo, with so much expression. and you did that portrait. and, it's wonderful. excellent work, jenny! carry on! rosemary

I am so impressed with these portraits. You have always shown a wonderful use of color, but I am blown away by what you have done with the glass blower quilt -- using the orange in the face. It is quite stunning. And the overall piece is -- wow, I don't know if I have the words. All three of them show a wonderful understanding of the subject.

Sometimes I wonder about just how talented a person can be and I think you take the cake! It is hard to believe these are fabric and quilted but having seen your work up close and personal, many moons ago in Canberra when you first started to get a name for yourself,I have to say your work is awesome.

Jenny these are AMAZING! I particularly love the color in the top one (but color is my favorite thing) but that by no means does NOT mean I do not love the other two. you are so incredibly talented, amazing job really!

Jenny, More stunning work from you!! We are so spoilt seeing what you are working on, can't wait to see them take on extra dimension with the quilting you are working so hard on right now. It will be so worth it!! The men look like they are about to step out of the quilt, they are so real.
