Just a glimpse
Thursday, October 16, 2008 at 08:34AM For those who think I might never post again - or quilt again - I am giving you a glimpse of something I am working on at the moment.
It is probably enough to tell you that it is based on glass blowers who work in the City of the Dead in Cairo and the gentleman working hot glass is my friend Hassan. I have so much of this glass - hundreds and hundreds of pieces.
And an out-of-focus image (I am not going to let you see it properly till it is finished!) of the top as it is now. There may be more beyond the turquoise edge, and of course the qulting will make it much more interesting.
Another one in the series is under way and I like it much better.

I love it; I don't know if this man is from the place you took us -my photos don't show the blower clearly enough - but I think you have captured so much in this piec. Whether the viewer has been there or not, the shapes and colours are wonderful.
Powerful piece, in focus or not... I adore glass whether functional or artistic.

I've been taking photos of the hand blown lanterns in our hotel. I assume they are from the same district? They are stunning, some a lovely blue and others milky browns and creams.

This is fabulous! I enjoy your blog so much. I have a favor to ask you. I need the pronunciation of this name: Adjo
I am getting an Abyssinian kitten after losing my last one of 19 years. I named my first one Minya, after the city in Egypt and I want this new one to have an Egyptian name also but it is a male. I like the meaning of Adjo and wondering exactly how it's pronounced. I figured you would know! Thanks!
Jenny, Thanks for getting back to me on the pronunciation of Adjo. I found it by doing a Google search for Egyptian boy names. It means "treasure".
